Shija Academy of Nursing is located within the campus of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute. The serene and tranquil campus, away from the congested city, tucked in the foothills of Langol and a pollution free environ, provides the perfect place for healing and a congenial atmosphere for learning.

Nursing is a profession that not only develops the personality and technical skills of an individual but also brings a wholesome change to the society. With a vision to bring health care delivery to international standards, not withstanding all the regional constraints, SHRI is committed to improve all facets of health care service. Realising that nursing is one key service that will make the difference in the standard of health care, SHRI now envisages a nursing school that promises to develop quality nurses who will be compatible with the vision of India to become health tourism centre in the world.

As a faculty, we believe that professional nursing is a life-long service to the people and nursing must advance along with other health professions if society is to be assured of a balanced health care programme.

We believe that professional nursing is charged with overall responsibility for giving care and those who assist in giving care, wherever and whenever, it becomes necessary to satisfy the nursing needs of people.

We believe that our conceptual approach to curriculum provides opportunities for relating scientific, abstract and professional knowledge in identifying and delaying with nursing problems, assessing health needs, making clinical judgments and initiating or sustaining nursing intervention in the care of individuals and families.

We believe that our curriculum is sufficiently flexible to provide for the changing needs of students and the consumers of nursing and will serve as an acceptable basic preparation for nursing study.

We believe that professional nursing practice demands a high degree of competency and responsibility and involves decision making at a level which requires perceptual and cognitive ability. It includes creating and initiating new methods based on current research.

Therefore, the Academy prepares its students to develop ability to analyze situations and problems critically and take responsibility for their higher education for maximum professional effectiveness throughout their career. Furthermore, the Academy believes in a system of nursing education that fits in with the changing educational patterns of the country to meet the health needs of the society.

• Applicants should have passed PUC or intermediate or 12th Std (Preferably with Science Subjects viz. physics, chemistry & biology)

• Applicants should have obtained at least 45% of the total marks in qualifying examination : in case of SC/ST 40%.
• Students should be medically fit, supported by physical fitness certificate.

Shija Academy of Nursing is a fully residential institute. All the students are expected to reside in the hostel.

The school will provide uniform after collection of money from the students. The candidates are expected to have 2 sets of prescribed uniforms. When in uniforms jewellery is not permitted to be worn except small ear studs. When in uniforms hair must be put up and no use of nail polish is allowed. Students are also expected to purchase the prescribed Text books and record books.

In view of the hard work and effort expected to be put in by the student, provision has been made to have well equipped library resources. The book, journals and all the printed materials in the library are the property of the institution. They should be handled with care.

The clinical laboratory is fully equipped to conduct several biochemicals, haematological & microbiological investigations. The anatomy and physiology laboratories are well equipped. The nursing arts lab, community health nursing and nutrition laboratories are well equipped with dummies, models, charts and all equipments needed for the students learning.

The course offers both practical and theory classes. Class room and clinical lectures are given by the nursing tutors, clinical instructors and Doctors. Lectures in specialties will be given by specialist in the field. Practicals include exposure to all clinical investigations and treatment procedures adopted in SHRI. Specialty postings to various centres will be provided to fulfill the demands of the curriculum.
