Department of Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry at Shija Hospital comprises a team of experts who understand that treating mental health disorders requires specialized therapy and an empathetic approach. This multidisciplinary team evaluates children and adults through personal interviews, assessments, psychological testing, and laboratory tests. Customized treatment plans are provided, combining quality of life programs, support programs, workshops, psychotherapy, and counselling.
Specific Treatments and Services
Pharmacotherapy (Medication): Treatments are provided for issues such as de-addiction (alcohol, nicotine, and substance abuse), individual counselling, premarital counselling, career counselling, identity disorders/gender reassignment, marital therapy, and family therapy.
Children and Adolescents: Psychiatric services are offered for issues such as learning difficulties, sleep and eating disorders, over-activity and poor concentration (ADHD), conduct problems, separation anxiety, autism, depressive disorders, sexually deviant behaviour, and drug abuse dependence.
Adults: Therapy is provided for a variety of disorders, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, sleep and eating disorders, sexual disorders, gender identity disorders, and substance-related disorders.
Geriatric Care: Services for disorders like dementia and delirium are offered to the elderly, along with caregiver education programs.
