Conference on 'patient safety' held
IMPHAL: Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur state branch, Association of Health care Providers of India, Manipur chapter and Shija Hospitals jointly organised a conference on 'Improving diagnosis for patient safety' at IMA hall, Lamphelpat Tuesday.
The inaugural session of the conference on the theme 'Get it right, make it safe' was attended by Health Services director Dr O Sanahanbi as chief guest and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Private Limited medical services director Dr S Jugindro as president while IMA Manipur president Dr Shyamkumar Laishram and AHPI Manipur president Dr Kh Palin were guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sanahanbi said treatment and speedy recovery of a patient will depend on timely and precise diagnosis. However, family members of the patient have great role in timely and prompt treatment as delay in availing treatment will develop complications in the patient.
While stressing the importance of such conference, Dr Palin said deaths due to lapses on the part of healthcare service providers could be avoid through improvement of healthcare services in the state. He said that time has come for patients to volunteer for timely diagnosis as well as for the medical fraternity to intensify awareness on importance of diagnosis. He also said that every hospital should have dedicated teams for timely treatment and precise.
The conference also had a technical session participated by expert doctors of different fields.
